Machinist

Venables Machine Works Ltd. is a trusted and respected leader in the custom steel manufacturing industry; providing design, machining and fabrication since 1931. Venables has built a solid foundation of quality service and customer satisfaction over many years through hiring and retaining qualified trades personnel and forging strong relationships with customers.

Venables Machine Works is searching for a highly skilled, highly motivated machinist to operate our state of the art Toshiba BTH-130 Horizontal Boring Mill.

The successful candidate will have experience with both manual and CNC equipment. Preference will be given to those with Journeyman Status however a combination of education and experience will be considered.

The successful applicants will possess the following skills and abilities.

* Experience on horizontal / vertical boring mills would be a definite asset.

* Operation of Manual Lathes and Milling Machines.

* Knowledge of CNC machine language (G&M Programming Codes).

* An understanding of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software would be a definite asset.

* Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, work orders or follow verbal instructions

* Study machining instructions, job orders and blueprints to determine dimensional and finish specifications, sequence of operations, set ups and tooling requirements.

* Work in an organized and efficient manner
* Possess and be able to apply good math skills.
* Secondary Technical Training, Grade 12 Diploma or GED Certification an asset.
* Experience in machining various components to close tolerances.

* Ability to function effectively and productively within a team focused work group

* Knowledge of raw materials, productions processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products.

* Ability to work overtime on an occasional basis as required.

* Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.
* Respect and recognition of potential safety hazards with heavy industrial equipment.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
* Good organizational skills, Good work ethic, Mature attitude and Reliable.
* Team player.
